 It is no secret that destination weddings are on the rise. In fact, according to a recent survey, more than 50% of couples said they would consider getting married somewhere other than their hometown. The reasons for this are numerous, but we’ve curated a list of the most common benefits that couples enjoy when they choose to have their wedding away from home:  If you’re worried about how much money your wedding will cost, then a destination wedding may be right for you. When compared to traditional weddings, most couples spend less than half as much on their destination weddings — but still get all of the same perks! In addition, you can save even more money by choosing local vendors who don’t charge as much as those in your hometown do.

Caroline and Duncan’s wedding in Kings College Chapel Cambridge was incredible. I have so many great memories from such an amazing day. Kings College Chapel is visually spectacular! I travelled up a few weeks ago to photograph Caroline and Duncan’s wedding on a hot July day. After photos with the guys in the morning I headed to meet Caroline at The Hilton. If you’re wondering she wore a Justin Alexander gown and Jimmy Choo shoes. Halfway through the beautifying process with Jimmy Bilton at Toni & Guy, flowers arrived from Mulberry Flowers. Kings College was in walking distance from the Hotel so I hot footed it through the busy streets and entered the quietness of the ceremony venue. It’s hard not to be incredibly impressed by the scale of Kings College. It’s on another level and made an incredible venue for the intimate ceremony.

 A little while ago I headed to Richmond Park with Ali and Andrew for a London couple photoshoot . Other than their own charming selves they bought balloons as an accessory! On our walk we got lost, took photos, avoided deer and dodged a few rain clouds. The adventurous life I lead… Richmond park is always a beautiful place to be, and whilst it was pretty cloudy I love the feel of these photos. Out of all of the London Parks I think I prefer Richmond. I do mention it in my favourite pre wedding spots of London and it’s one of the few parks that ‘can’t’ get crowded. Whilst there are always lots of people around you can always find a few quiet spots to take some cute photos. Also, there are wild deer. So, that pretty much trumps all the other parks! You also have the building of Pembroke Lodge and so, as well as the wildness of the area you have some interesting gardens to wander around.

 My first La Cabane Beach Club wedding and it was a scorcher! Megan and Gary decided on a wedding in Marbella because it’s a place they spend a lot of time. It’s a really beautiful part of Spain and the travel happily coincided with my Mas Torroella wedding photography in the North of Spain. The day started out at the 5 star Hotel Los Monteros where Megan and Gary both got ready. Megan wore a Kate Fearnley veil. The ceremony was held at Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación. It is a church like no other I have visited! Whilst the architecture inspires a serious atmosphere the priest was extremely friendly and welcoming. There were plenty of laughs during the ceremony and it was great to photograph. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the ceremony although I shouldn’t have worried as it followed a pretty traditional catholic mass. 

 Wowee! Seb and Shabs are on the blog today. I did their Northbrook Park wedding photography and after their engagement shoot and Mendhi I had been impatiently waiting for their wedding day. I kept everything crossed for good weather and it paid off! It must have been one of the hottest days of the year – and it was day of moment after moment of photo opportunities. I’m not going to ramble on too much, the photos will do all the talking! But suffice to say, if you dedicate the drinks reception to great food and ‘sports day’ in the gardens – count me in as your wedding photographer! It was a blast. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Surrey five times in the last month. If you’re looking for a great wedding venue then do check out Northbrook Park. It’s a gem!

My first time being a Euridge Manor wedding photographer at this new local venue – and wow! It is a stunner! Unlike any other wedding venue, I’ve been to it is dripping with character and amazing architecture.  It looked like an exotic location in Italy from a James Bond film or the ruins of a castle in Indiana Jones! With a huge pond/lake, a hill with a bonfire on top, castle ruins and glamorous rooms to get ready and dine in – it was a wedding photographer’s dream. I had BIG expectations for Kate and Sammi’s wedding and the day blew me away. Working alongside Aaron from Reel Weddings it was fast-paced and full of action. Kate and Sammi had organised two amazing bands for the drinks reception and dancing.   My three favourite things about their wedding day were… The wedding party.  Laura and Ben’s black tie wedding in Goldbrick house was a very classy affair. Right in the centre of Bristol, the family got ready at the Marriott hotel. It was great to see everyone getting ready and it also gave me a chance to slip between all of the rooms and photograph the anticipation in the Bridal suite and guys pulling on socks in the other! It was a lovely atmosphere, lots of banter, nervousness and plenty of excitement. Laura wore a beautiful, classic Nicola Anne England wedding gown complete with Rachel Simpson shoes. I found it really amusing how Laura’s serious preparation kept being interrupted by surprise romantic gifts from Ben. Firstly his brother bought in two dozen red roses. Next up, some cool Lego wedding mementoes and finally some beautiful diamond earrings. It was great to see Laura’s hair and makeup artist Kate Kelvin again.  I really love Asian pre wedding photography engagement shoots . I could quite happily photograph these couples three times a week. And then still have energy for more. When I get an enquiry my heart rate rises with the anticipation of an amazing day out. The UK has such diversity that it makes for amazing country engagement photos. Forests, rivers, lakes, fields and hills. Whilst I’ve visited cities like London and Stratford country engagement photos are all about the romanticism. It was great to head to the countryside with Eeli and Man Kuan and take full advantage of UK spring time. With blossoms, flowers and beautiful light we made photographic magic happen. One of the good things to come from a quiet time of year is that I finally have time to catch up on my blogging! Today we’re heading back to Jacky & David’s wedding. They got married at St Mary’s Church before heading on to Southend Barns wedding venue. They lucked out with a beautiful day in August which ended with the prettiest of sunsets. It was my first time at Southend Barns although Jacky and Dave found me through a recommendation from this wedding at Upwaltham Barns. Not only did they have a fab Cadillac wedding car their little dog attended the wedding ceremony. Looking at these wedding photos now quickly brings back all the memories of the day. The guys smoking cigars, playing law games, eating amazing food (and cake!) Whilst ‘at work’ I’m always trying to find unique wedding photos and I struck gold!  Time to take a trip to sunny Tuscany now for Katie and Matthew’s Villa Podernovo wedding! The couple love Italy, especially Matthew who is an architect. It’s no wonder Katie and Matthew chose the magnificent San Galgano Abbey as the location for their wedding ceremony. Situated twenty-five miles west of Siena, the ancient ruin is almost seven hundred years old. I’ve been there twice before and it was great to be back! Getting ready for their Villa Podernovo wedding Katie and Matthew were super relaxed. Matthew is Australian and there were a few subtle nods to that throughout the day. See if you can spot the eucalyptus leaves in any of the photos. Katie’s stunning wedding dress from Made With Love Bridal was also Australian. I’m really lucky to do Hyde Barn photography every year — it’s a really cool little venue in the Cotswolds. Lucy and Gareth’s wedding was one to remember. Their hard work with amazing styling detail really paid off and the beautiful light we had was the icing on the cake. I met these two a few months before the wedding for an engagement shoot and it was great to get to know them a little better before the big day. I was ultra enthusiastic because I love outdoor weddings. I remember feeling pretty nervous about the weather as it can go any way in June! Doing Umbria wedding photography at Nicola and Andy’s wedding was SO much fun. First of all it was great to return to do Borgo Bastia Creti wedding photography for a second wedding at this Umbrian wedding venue. Going there for the second time meant that it was a little less stressful. It looked just as beautiful as it always does and photographing their wedding was a dream (apart from the hot hot weather!) My top three moments of the day start off with Nicola and Andy exiting to the the rice confetti. An Italian wedding tradition and one of my favourites! Lots of fun, great to photograph but if you stand in the wrong place it’s a little bit painful (I like to be kept on my toes!) Their guests didn’t hold back and the rice went everywhere. My second favourite moment… not gonna lie, the food was incredible and I was really well looked after by Nicola and Andy and the staff at Umbrian wedding venue.  Kicking off today with the very best Euridge Manor wedding photography from Simi and Bieni’s big day. They were an amazing couple to work with and I’d been looking forward to returning to Euridge Manor for a LONG time. The photos just do not do it justice. The wedding venue is absolutely stunning and the scenery makes my job as a wedding photographer a little bit easier. A massive shout out to wedding planner Gabi from A Flair To Remember. She was great to work with all the way up to and after the wedding day. It was a whirlwind from start to finish and with so much going on coordinating it all must have been a LOT of work. For springtime, we had amazing weather. The sun gods just keep on giving in 2022 and to be perfectly honest I am extremely thankful! I could have taken photos there for days but sadly the sun did set, and after that we retreated inside. They had a beautiful personal church service at St John the Baptist Church in Colerne.
