 My family photography style is just like my style for weddings – natural, fun and colourful. Being a dad myself I know how quickly little ones grow up and so family photos are priceless. I’ve had several family shoots myself and they mean the world to me. My photos are printed out large and hung on the walls. It’s the facial facial expressions and the unique characteristics that make them them. So I’ve found the best way to take photos is to let the little ones roam free outside where they can explore and have fun. Whether it’s splashing in muddy puddles, kicking a ball or riding bikes the more fun they have the better. No fake smiles or unnatural poses, I promise.  I photograph families far and wide but living in Bristol we have plenty of great locations. The number one spot is Ashton Court. With woods, hills, horizons, deer, gardens and a colourful mansion house gardens there is PLENTY of variety. Westonbirt arboretum is also popular, especially in autumn. Amazing pathways...

 Amelia and Gabriel’s wedding was super memorable to me. It was the one where they planned lots of fun locations in and around Oxford. We went from the city centre, meadows, rivers, a pub and inside Wadham College chapel. Mentally this was a logistical challenge for me (I like to keep things simple) but I have to hand it to them, the day was a blinder! They got ready at Cotswold Manor Estate with friends and family before heading in to Wadham College for the ceremony. They met at Oxford University so it was pretty special spot to celebrate their marriage. A shout out to the vicar who not only gave an incredible ceremony but was also accommodating to me. Everyone then headed outside to the quad and gardens for drinks and canapés. Afterwards we walked through the centre of Oxford, taking in a few of the sights.  I really love Asian pre wedding photography engagement shoots . I could quite happily photograph these couples three times a week. And then still have energy for more. When I get an enquiry my heart rate rises with the anticipation of an amazing day out. The UK has such diversity that it makes for amazing country engagement photos. Forests, rivers, lakes, fields and hills. Whilst I’ve visited cities like London and Stratford country engagement photos are all about the romanticism. It was great to head to the countryside with Eeli and Man Kuan and take full advantage of UK spring time. With blossoms, flowers and beautiful light we made photographic magic happen.  Emily and Michael’s Folly Farm spring wedding has been on my list of weddings to blog for far too long. Today I’m making it happen! Dusting off my virtual photography wedding album and hitting publish. I love being a Folly Farm wedding photographer but this was the first time I had been to St Nicholas & The Blessed Virgin Mary in Stowey. It was a beautiful church and a romantic place to get married although sadly I wasn’t allowed to take photos during the ceremony. But the sun shone brightly for spring time and we were so lucky to have such amazing weather. Check out those blue skies! Towards the end of the day we walked in some amazing fields for some couple photos at sunset. Often my favourite time of the day to take a break and creative some memories. With Autumn in full swing I always like to remind myself of long warm summer nights. Souraya and Alan’s Villa Miani Wedding is the perfect choice! The magnificent historic house overlooks the ancient city of Rome and is surrounded by lush green gardens that slope down towards a dramatic terrace. The perfect choice for a sunset wedding ceremony. Check out those views! Souraya and Alan were joined by family and friends from across the globe. The vibe was incredibly relaxed but also with a middle eastern flair. Souraya looked stunning! Classic elegance, but really natural. After the beautiful ceremony at Villa Miani I had lots of time to take some fantastic photographs in the grounds. It was a lot of fun!  My first time doing Nonsuch Mansion wedding photography for Caro and Ed’s wedding in Surrey. Although it was on the verge of winter becoming springtime Nonsuch Mansion looked beautiful. The icing on the cake was a little ray of sunshine after the speeches which meant a few couple photos in golden hour. A huge thank you to Ed and Caro for making me feel so welcome on the day. I’ve photographed a few of their friends weddings and they are such a fun group to be around. It’s infectious and makes for some epic wedding photography. It was great to work alongside wedding videographer Rupert again and also have help from Jamie my regular second photographer. I think my favourite moment of the day was the dancing. I know there are much more poignant and significant times during a wedding day but the dance floor was mad! My first time doing   Chateau Roquelune wedding photography   I had been waiting ages for Shaun and Lucy’s wedding. It was my first wedding in France although I do quite a few   destination weddings   each year. I used to live in France for a few years (woohoo!) and so it was great to tick this wedding off of my bucket list. Friends of Beth & Tom (from this  San Galgano wedding ) I knew Shaun and Lucy’s wedding would be equally as crazy to photograph and I wasn’t wrong. Chateau Roquelune made an incredible backdrop and it was difficult to stop taking photos of it! I’ve not been to a wedding venue like it!Close to Pézenas in Southern France it was also my first trip to that part of the world.  It’s been a quiet winter away from the wedding season and I’ve missed it. It was excited to dust off my camera and head to London for a few consultations and some engagement sessions in the City. First up, Laura and Henry. We started in their beautiful home and then headed out in to Hampstead to see what we could find. I love the spontaneity of these shoots. Pick pretty place at right time of day and see what happens. Love getting to know people too. As most of my friends will know I’m more of an observer than a big talker. But I find these shoots provide a great opportunity to get to know people on a slightly deeper level. I think that’s kind of necessary when photographing two people in love and that’s why I enjoy doing them. I really enjoyed this session and here are a handful of my favourites.  You’ll love this post, St Giles House wedding photography in the winter! AJ & Daniel had an amazing wedding with two ceremonies. One secular and also a Jewish ceremony with more family and friends attending. My top three moments of the day start with the Jewish band and the evening dancing. I can’t get enough of these photos and they were well worth having my toes stomped on! After Daniel finished his wedding speech everyone headed to the drawing room for some wild dancing. You’ll find an image or two from this in my updated 2019 portfolio (coming soon!) My second favourite thing was seeing a few familiar faces from other weddings I’ve been to. Guests from Louisa & Jez and Jemma and Tom . Even if it was just to say a quick ‘hi’ it’s quite fun to see people again, although I’m not sure many of them recognised me! Walking along Clevedon Pier whilst eating ice-cream is one of my favourite memories of Jen and Kurt’s wedding. I’ve been to a few great weddings at Clevedon Hall but I haven’t yet been lucky enough to visit the pier. The old wooden boardwalk makes for some great photos and it’s certainly a wedding venue with a difference! Whilst we were only there for a few hours before heading to Clevedon Hall for the wedding reception it was a real highlight of the day. You might remember Jen and Kurt from their engagement photos at Castle Combe. Whilst the weather on their wedding day was a little touch and go we had fun in the sun and also got some beautiful photos in the grounds of Clevedon Hall. Cotswold pre-wedding shoots Getting engaged is such a special time! With so much to plan and organise a pre-wedding shoot is a great way for couple to relax and celebrate together. The perfect setting for capturing the most beautiful photographs has to be The Cotswolds. Running through five counties this part of the world oozes romance and is quintessentially British. Narrowing down my favourite locations in was pretty tricky, but here they are… Castle Combe  It’s impossible to talk about the Cotswolds without immediately thinking of pretty villages with golden stone houses and charming winding lanes. It was my pleasure to travel to Brittany in Northern France for Cho and Gauthier’s Chateau de Keriolet wedding . You may have already seen them on my Instagram, as we met up in Cornwall and Bath previously for pre-wedding photos. They are a really fun couple and we had a lot of laughs! Cho and Gauthier had a beautiful ceremony at the town hall in Concarneau before heading on to Chateau de Keriolet for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Gauthier’s sister did an amazing job as the celebrant where she had to speak in both French and English. Chateau de Keriolet dates back to the 13th century and is an incredible venue to have a wedding. The grounds and architecture are spectacular. One of the most dramatic parts is the courtyard, which is a mix of Medieval, Renaissance and Neo-Gothic architecture.  I was particularly taken with the main gate which had a drawbridge and probably took a few too many photos there!  I was an Isle of Wight wedding photographer for Carla and Richard – my next wedding of 2021. What a stunner it was! I don’t know about you but I have really missed travelling this last year! As many of my destination weddings for 2021 are slowly postponing it was great to have a mini adventure and board a ferry for the isle of wight. I went to university in Southampton so it was great to take a stroll down memory lane before boarding the ferry and taking in the views. Carla and Rich did the legal duties closer to home a few days before their isle of wight celebration. They then invited close friends and family for a little knees up in one of their favourite spots. We had amazing weather, literally couldn’t have planned it better. Sunny enough to top up the tan but not unbearably hot.  I don’t normally do very many family portrait shoots but I jumped at the chance when Gemma and Matt got in touch. I photographed their wedding some time ago and it was great to catch up with their latest edition to the family. I really fancied a new challenge, something other than weddings or couple shoots , but still with great people. It was a great opportunity. A shoot was organised at Ashton court and we spent the best part of an hour playing around. Jorga was an absolute darling and pulled some great little expressions which totally made the photos. Richard and Joanna got married last weekend and it was amazing. I’m pretty bad at writing, so my words won’t sum up the beauty and emotion everyone felt. The Christian community at Elim@Bristol all attended to see Joanna and Richard tie the knot and sang their hearts out. We then went to Joanna’s grandparent’s garden in Bristol to celebrate the rest of their wedding day in the sun. It was such a beautiful day and there was something about being in a back garden to celebrate the wedding that instantly put everyone at ease.
