 My family photography style is just like my style for weddings – natural, fun and colourful. Being a dad myself I know how quickly little ones grow up and so family photos are priceless. I’ve had several family shoots myself and they mean the world to me. My photos are printed out large and hung on the walls. It’s the facial facial expressions and the unique characteristics that make them them. So I’ve found the best way to take photos is to let the little ones roam free outside where they can explore and have fun. Whether it’s splashing in muddy puddles, kicking a ball or riding bikes the more fun they have the better. No fake smiles or unnatural poses, I promise.  I photograph families far and wide but living in Bristol we have plenty of great locations. The number one spot is Ashton Court. With woods, hills, horizons, deer, gardens and a colourful mansion house gardens there is PLENTY of variety. Westonbirt arboretum is also popular, especially in autumn. Amazing pathways...

Towards the end of last year, when the days got shorter and colder I headed to Shoreditch to meet Shahr and Peter. We headed out in to the crowded streets. Wondered around food stores and antique markets. Saw some pretty epic graffiti to rival that in Bristol. We headed back to their flat and had some coffee. Peter and Shahr changed outfits and we headed out to Hampstead Heath. Their pooch had lots of fun in the wet grass and we walked to the top of the hill, just in time to see the sun set.  Amelia and Gabriel’s wedding was super memorable to me. It was the one where they planned lots of fun locations in and around Oxford. We went from the city centre, meadows, rivers, a pub and inside Wadham College chapel. Mentally this was a logistical challenge for me (I like to keep things simple) but I have to hand it to them, the day was a blinder! They got ready at Cotswold Manor Estate with friends and family before heading in to Wadham College for the ceremony. They met at Oxford University so it was pretty special spot to celebrate their marriage. A shout out to the vicar who not only gave an incredible ceremony but was also accommodating to me. Everyone then headed outside to the quad and gardens for drinks and canapés. Afterwards we walked through the centre of Oxford, taking in a few of the sights.  I was thrilled when Hannah and Ed booked me for their Farnham Castle wedding . As they live in Australia we had Skyped before the big day. It was great to get to know them and they both seemed like a lot of fun. Originally born in the UK they were coming back to Farnham Castle to tie the knot. This was my first wedding at Farnham Castle which is an exclusive wedding venue. Whilst I had seen photos of it online it was great to see the 900 year old building in person. With an amazing view over Farnham and lovely grounds it is a hidden gem. The bit I liked most about the castle was it’s open air area for the meal out on the grass. Fortunately we had the most amazing heat wave so things worked out perfectly for us (and I’m pretty sure there was a contingency plan should it have rained!)  When Hannah and Nello asked me to photograph their wedding at Hampton Court House I did a celebratory dance in my office. I may also have punched the air because I’ve always wanted to photograph a wedding at this beautiful venue. Being a Hampton Court House wedding photographer has been on my ‘hit list’ for a few years now. It’s a beautiful building with gorgeous light in the ceremony room. A Bristol wedding photographers dream and they made sure it was a really memorable day. Their wedding was a little bit different for all sorts of reasons. To start, Nello is from Skyros so his family were visiting and there were lots of Greek references throughout the day. The wedding favours were olive oil. Made from olives Hannah and her father picked in Greece last year. The wedding breakfast was catered for by their friend Ben.  Today I’m going back in time to celebrate Anita and Tom’s autumn wedding at North Cadbury Court. I’m thankful I get to visit lots of amazing venues all over the country but I wouldn’t complain if I went to North Cadbury Court every weekend! It really is that nice and I’m thrilled to be a recommended supplier doing North Cadbury Court wedding photography . Autumn is my favourite time of year. The colours, the weather, the temperature – it all came together for their wedding day. The wedding ceremony was inside North Cadbury Court house. Then everyone headed outside to enjoy the sunshine, drinks and nibbles and to celebrate the couple. In the evening Anita got changed in to a red and gold sari for the first dance.  Emily and Michael’s Folly Farm spring wedding has been on my list of weddings to blog for far too long. Today I’m making it happen! Dusting off my virtual photography wedding album and hitting publish. I love being a Folly Farm wedding photographer but this was the first time I had been to St Nicholas & The Blessed Virgin Mary in Stowey. It was a beautiful church and a romantic place to get married although sadly I wasn’t allowed to take photos during the ceremony. But the sun shone brightly for spring time and we were so lucky to have such amazing weather. Check out those blue skies! Towards the end of the day we walked in some amazing fields for some couple photos at sunset. Often my favourite time of the day to take a break and creative some memories. After the walk we heading back for some dance floor action. What I most remember about Aimee and Ian’s wedding at Peckforton Castle is the mad dance floor antics. Specifically Tina Turner and Rolling on A River! It was a great way to finish off the wedding day and summed up the day. It was SO much fun. Ian is the kind of guy who is up for anything and throws himself at any task wearing a smile. After the ceremony, photos, and speeches he hit the dance floor hard! At one point he picked up Aimee and twirled her around which made for some epic wedding photos. Aimee was charming and looked so beautiful in her dress from Love Bridal Boutique. Especially as she walked down the aisle. I think they are some of my favourite photos from the day. I really wasn’t sure what she’d wear but her dress suited her perfectly and also the venue Peckforton Castle. My first time doing   Chateau Roquelune wedding photography   I had been waiting ages for Shaun and Lucy’s wedding. It was my first wedding in France although I do quite a few   destination weddings   each year. I used to live in France for a few years (woohoo!) and so it was great to tick this wedding off of my bucket list. Friends of Beth & Tom (from this  San Galgano wedding ) I knew Shaun and Lucy’s wedding would be equally as crazy to photograph and I wasn’t wrong. Chateau Roquelune made an incredible backdrop and it was difficult to stop taking photos of it! I’ve not been to a wedding venue like it!Close to Pézenas in Southern France it was also my first trip to that part of the world. One of the good things to come from a quiet time of year is that I finally have time to catch up on my blogging! Today we’re heading back to Jacky & David’s wedding. They got married at St Mary’s Church before heading on to Southend Barns wedding venue. They lucked out with a beautiful day in August which ended with the prettiest of sunsets. It was my first time at Southend Barns although Jacky and Dave found me through a recommendation from this wedding at Upwaltham Barns. Not only did they have a fab Cadillac wedding car their little dog attended the wedding ceremony. Looking at these wedding photos now quickly brings back all the memories of the day. The guys smoking cigars, playing law games, eating amazing food (and cake!) Whilst ‘at work’ I’m always trying to find unique wedding photos and I struck gold!  It’s been a quiet winter away from the wedding season and I’ve missed it. It was excited to dust off my camera and head to London for a few consultations and some engagement sessions in the City. First up, Laura and Henry. We started in their beautiful home and then headed out in to Hampstead to see what we could find. I love the spontaneity of these shoots. Pick pretty place at right time of day and see what happens. Love getting to know people too. As most of my friends will know I’m more of an observer than a big talker. But I find these shoots provide a great opportunity to get to know people on a slightly deeper level. I think that’s kind of necessary when photographing two people in love and that’s why I enjoy doing them. I really enjoyed this session and here are a handful of my favourites.  I return to Pembroke Lodge every year for a London wedding. Since I haven’t blogged very many since this Pembroke Lodge winter wedding I thought I’d share a sunnier blinder! A few of my favourite photos from Krystal and Luke’s wedding. I have to say a big shout out to bridesmaid Pinar for recommending me from her beautiful wedding at Falconhurst Estate . I started at Krystal’s sisters (beautiful) home with everyone getting ready. We then headed off to Pembroke Lodge for the ceremony in The Belvedere. The beauty of this room is the amount of light that floods in as well as the proximity to the terrace (for drinks and views!) I hadn’t met either Krystal or Luke before, but boy was I in for a treat! Literally my dream couple. Starting with a shout out to Luke’s suit! Pretty similar to my own wedding suit – that blue looked so good!   Emma, Adam and I took part in the coldest engagement shoot in history. Fact. That said we made the best of the coldest, wintery-est day and wondered around the lovely Bristol on a slow Sunday afternoon. I’ve known Emma and Adam for years and can’t wait to see them both tie the knot later this year.
