Villa Miani Wedding - Albert Palmer

With Autumn in full swing I always like to remind myself of long warm summer nights. Souraya and Alan’s Villa Miani Wedding is the perfect choice! The magnificent historic house overlooks the ancient city of Rome and is surrounded by lush green gardens that slope down towards a dramatic terrace. The perfect choice for a sunset wedding ceremony. Check out those views! Souraya and Alan were joined by family and friends from across the globe. The vibe was incredibly relaxed but also with a middle eastern flair. Souraya looked stunning! Classic elegance, but really natural. After the beautiful ceremony at Villa Miani I had lots of time to take some fantastic photographs in the grounds. It was a lot of fun! Plus the light was gorgeous and made for such a romantic setting. Some of my favourite shots of the day and you can’t beat that light in Italy. Then the 250 guests were treated to some delicious Italian cuisine. When the sun set Villa Miani was transformed again. This time lit up with hu...

Nonsuch Mansion Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

My first time doing Nonsuch Mansion wedding photography for Caro and Ed’s wedding in Surrey. Although it was on the verge of winter becoming springtime Nonsuch Mansion looked beautiful. The icing on the cake was a little ray of sunshine after the speeches which meant a few couple photos in golden hour. A huge thank you to Ed and Caro for making me feel so welcome on the day. I’ve photographed a few of their friends weddings and they are such a fun group to be around. It’s infectious and makes for some epic wedding photography. It was great to work alongside wedding videographer Rupert again and also have help from Jamie my regular second photographer. I think my favourite moment of the day was the dancing. I know there are much more poignant and significant times during a wedding day but the dance floor was mad! My second favourite time was right after the confetti when everyone came outside (in March!) to celebrate with drinks and canapés. When I look at the images they take me ...

Peckforton Castle Wedding Photographer

What I most remember about Aimee and Ian’s wedding at Peckforton Castle is the mad dance floor antics. Specifically Tina Turner and Rolling on A River! It was a great way to finish off the wedding day and summed up the day. It was SO much fun. Ian is the kind of guy who is up for anything and throws himself at any task wearing a smile. After the ceremony, photos, and speeches he hit the dance floor hard! At one point he picked up Aimee and twirled her around which made for some epic wedding photos. Aimee was charming and looked so beautiful in her dress from Love Bridal Boutique. Especially as she walked down the aisle. I think they are some of my favourite photos from the day. I really wasn’t sure what she’d wear but her dress suited her perfectly and also the venue Peckforton Castle. The guys got their suits from Special Day and Appletons which worked well against the formal backdrop. The wedding rings were from Philip James Jewellery in Bath. I don’t know whose idea it was to hire ...

Chateau Roquelune Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

My first time doing   Chateau Roquelune wedding photography   I had been waiting ages for Shaun and Lucy’s wedding. It was my first wedding in France although I do quite a few   destination weddings   each year. I used to live in France for a few years (woohoo!) and so it was great to tick this wedding off of my bucket list. Friends of Beth & Tom (from this  San Galgano wedding ) I knew Shaun and Lucy’s wedding would be equally as crazy to photograph and I wasn’t wrong. Chateau Roquelune made an incredible backdrop and it was difficult to stop taking photos of it! I’ve not been to a wedding venue like it!Close to Pézenas in Southern France it was also my first trip to that part of the world. I could easily retire there… What were my top three moments of the day? Spirited wedding guests popping bottles on the dance floor. This is something I’ve been waiting for as a wedding photographer for a very long time! Finally it happened. Lucy and Shaun’s outdoor weddi...

CAROLYN & TIM | BATH | ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

Carolyn and Tim did their engagement shoot Bath . We walked through Prior Park, saw ducks, a grotto, dodged cow pats and took photos. We also went in to the city for a little wander around. Bath is a great location for engagement shoots and I love going there because of all the opportunities. There is a little bit of everything. The only problem is avoiding the tourists. Here are a few of my all time favourites…

Somerset Wedding Venues at Albert Palmer

As a Somerset photographer I’m lucky enough to visit many different wedding venues. From huge country mansions to open fields I get to photograph weddings in all sorts of places. They all have a different feel and below are a few of my favourite wedding venues in Somerset .

Southend Barns Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

One of the good things to come from a quiet time of year is that I finally have time to catch up on my blogging! Today we’re heading back to Jacky & David’s wedding. They got married at St Mary’s Church before heading on to Southend Barns wedding venue. They lucked out with a beautiful day in August which ended with the prettiest of sunsets. It was my first time at Southend Barns although Jacky and Dave found me through a recommendation from this wedding at Upwaltham Barns. Not only did they have a fab Cadillac wedding car their little dog attended the wedding ceremony. Looking at these wedding photos now quickly brings back all the memories of the day. The guys smoking cigars, playing law games, eating amazing food (and cake!) Whilst ‘at work’ I’m always trying to find unique wedding photos and I struck gold! One of my favourite images is of the couple asleep together on an outdoor sofa. It had been a long day and after the wedding breakfast these two crashed out in each others ar...

Laura and Henry London for Pre Wedding Shoots

It’s been a quiet winter away from the wedding season and I’ve missed it. It was excited to dust off my camera and head to London for a few consultations and some engagement sessions in the City. First up, Laura and Henry. We started in their beautiful home and then headed out in to Hampstead to see what we could find. I love the spontaneity of these shoots. Pick pretty place at right time of day and see what happens. Love getting to know people too. As most of my friends will know I’m more of an observer than a big talker. But I find these shoots provide a great opportunity to get to know people on a slightly deeper level. I think that’s kind of necessary when photographing two people in love and that’s why I enjoy doing them. I really enjoyed this session and here are a handful of my favourites. (Okay, so check out the first shot. Probably my favourite photograph of the year so far. Just for fun I asked Laura and Henry to throw these playing cards in to the air. I had a vision, ...

Pembroke Lodge Wedding — Albert Palmer

I return to Pembroke Lodge every year for a London wedding. Since I haven’t blogged very many since this Pembroke Lodge winter wedding I thought I’d share a sunnier blinder! A few of my favourite photos from Krystal and Luke’s wedding. I have to say a big shout out to bridesmaid Pinar for recommending me from her beautiful wedding at Falconhurst Estate . I started at Krystal’s sisters (beautiful) home with everyone getting ready. We then headed off to Pembroke Lodge for the ceremony in The Belvedere. The beauty of this room is the amount of light that floods in as well as the proximity to the terrace (for drinks and views!) I hadn’t met either Krystal or Luke before, but boy was I in for a treat! Literally my dream couple. Starting with a shout out to Luke’s suit! Pretty similar to my own wedding suit – that blue looked so good! He was relaxed all day, through the ceremony, couple photos, possibly even the speeches! All day he was beaming. Since the sun shone so brightly we took ...

Sian and Nick’s wedding in Bath — Albert Palmer Photography

I must confess I was a little worried for Sian and Nick’s wedding in Bath . I knew it wasn’t going to be a warm day but then it started snowing a few days before and didn’t stop. I shouldn’t have worried. I turned up to photograph Sian getting ready and the snow made for one of the most romantic settings. Ever. Maybe I’m getting older, or more sentimental but Bath was really beautiful that day. I followed the bridal preparations at the Francis Hotel and had a laugh with the girls. I really enjoy this part of the day. Sian and Nick had a simple intimate ceremony at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church which was great to photograph. The church were very relaxed about photographs – ‘do whatever you need to’ were the vicar’s words so I did! They both looked incredible on the day and it was emotional seeing them get married.

EMMA & ADAM | BRISTOL | COUPLE SHOOT

Emma, Adam and I took part in the coldest engagement shoot in history. Fact. That said we made the best of the coldest, wintery-est day and wondered around the lovely Bristol on a slow Sunday afternoon. I’ve known Emma and Adam for years and can’t wait to see them both tie the knot later this year. We met through mutual friends back in Southampton during the ‘uni years’ and attended a few random house parties :o) Since we’ve all moved away from Hampshire now it was great catch up, chat weddings and hear all about how they got engaged. https://albertpalmerphotography.com/emma-adam-bristol-couple-shoot/

St Giles House Wedding Photography

You’ll love this post, St Giles House wedding photography in the winter! AJ & Daniel had an amazing wedding with two ceremonies. One secular and also a Jewish ceremony with more family and friends attending. My top three moments of the day start with the Jewish band and the evening dancing. I can’t get enough of these photos and they were well worth having my toes stomped on! After Daniel finished his wedding speech everyone headed to the drawing room for some wild dancing. You’ll find an image or two from this in my updated 2019 portfolio (coming soon!) My second favourite thing was seeing a few familiar faces from other weddings I’ve been to. Guests from Louisa & Jez and Jemma and Tom . Even if it was just to say a quick ‘hi’ it’s quite fun to see people again, although I’m not sure many of them recognised me! Lastly I loved the ‘cave rave’ – with overhead LED strips it was a fun touch. It’s hidden away underground but was in nice contrast to the rest of the historic bui...

JEN & KURT | CLEVEDON HALL | WEDDING

Walking along Clevedon Pier whilst eating ice-cream is one of my favourite memories of Jen and Kurt’s wedding. I’ve been to a few great weddings at Clevedon Hall but I haven’t yet been lucky enough to visit the pier. The old wooden boardwalk makes for some great photos and it’s certainly a wedding venue with a difference! Whilst we were only there for a few hours before heading to Clevedon Hall for the wedding reception it was a real highlight of the day. You might remember Jen and Kurt from their engagement photos at Castle Combe. Whilst the weather on their wedding day was a little touch and go we had fun in the sun and also got some beautiful photos in the grounds of Clevedon Hall. A few shout outs to some of my favourite local suppliers. Firstly to the Rose Shed, who made the largest bouquet I have ever photographed. I needed a special lens just to fit it all in :/ To Amy Elizabeth for her makeup skills and Louise for beautifying all the girls hair in the morning. Also to the ladie...

Villa Podernovo Wedding - Albert Palmer Photography

Time to take a trip to sunny Tuscany now for Katie and Matthew’s Villa Podernovo wedding! The couple love Italy, especially Matthew who is an architect. It’s no wonder Katie and Matthew chose the magnificent San Galgano Abbey as the location for their wedding ceremony. Situated twenty-five miles west of Siena, the ancient ruin is almost seven hundred years old. I’ve been there twice before and it was great to be back! Getting ready for their Villa Podernovo wedding Katie and Matthew were super relaxed. Matthew is Australian and there were a few subtle nods to that throughout the day. See if you can spot the eucalyptus leaves in any of the photos. Katie’s stunning wedding dress from Made With Love Bridal was also Australian. The weather was perfect for the ceremony at San Galgano Abbey. Thankfully as the ruin is completely open to the skies. Katie arrived in a dinky vintage Fiat 500 wedding car. Many guests had travelled thousands of miles to be at the wedding, so that made the ce...
