Ice Cave Pre Wedding Shoot - Albert Palmer

This ice cave pre wedding shoot in Iceland was one to tick off of my bucket list! I have been to Iceland quite a few times before I’d not been near a glacier or ice cave. In fact I have never been to a glacier in my life! Never mind on a pre wedding shoot.

Reaching the glacier was more of a mission that I’d anticipated! A 5 hour drive from Reykjavik, we stayed in an air BnB nearby. We then met our guide and took 1 hour drive by 4×4 over treacherous ground to the start of our hike. We then hiked for about an hour over a glacier which was one of those moments where you have to pinch yourself! My New Balance trainers held up well with the spikes our guide gave us.

Once we arrived at an ice cave (which was melting) the couple quickly got dressed in to suit and ball gown. They changed quickly whilst I scouted out a few locations. As much as I love natural photos they do take more time to orchestrate and natural moments take time to unfold. Not wanting my couple to catch hypothermia we had to take photos as quickly as possible before they got too cold. As you can image it was INCREDIBLY cold and made a little worse by the wind factor.

As time was against us the poses are a little more orchestrated but the landscape makes up for this. We were really fortunate to get some sun and I am really happy with this ice cave pre wedding shoot.

Southend Barns Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

One of the good things to come from a quiet time of year is that I finally have time to catch up on my blogging! Today we’re heading back to Jacky & David’s wedding. They got married at St Mary’s Church before heading on to Southend Barns wedding venue. They lucked out with a beautiful day in August which ended with the prettiest of sunsets. It was my first time at Southend Barns although Jacky and Dave found me through a recommendation from this wedding at Upwaltham Barns. Not only did they have a fab Cadillac wedding car their little dog attended the wedding ceremony. Looking at these wedding photos now quickly brings back all the memories of the day. The guys smoking cigars, playing law games, eating amazing food (and cake!) Whilst ‘at work’ I’m always trying to find unique wedding photos and I struck gold! One of my favourite images is of the couple asleep together on an outdoor sofa. It had been a long day and after the wedding breakfast these two crashed out in each others ar...
