Wadham College Oxford Wedding Photographer

Amelia and Gabriel’s wedding was super memorable to me. It was the one where they planned lots of fun locations in and around Oxford. We went from the city centre, meadows, rivers, a pub and inside Wadham College chapel. Mentally this was a logistical challenge for me (I like to keep things simple) but I have to hand it to them, the day was a blinder! They got ready at Cotswold Manor Estate with friends and family before heading in to Wadham College for the ceremony. They met at Oxford University so it was pretty special spot to celebrate their marriage. A shout out to the vicar who not only gave an incredible ceremony but was also accommodating to me. Everyone then headed outside to the quad and gardens for drinks and canapés. Afterwards we walked through the centre of Oxford, taking in a few of the sights. We arrived near Christchurch Meadow where the trial party ‘set sail’ along the river to The Perch. The weather was off the scale! It could not have been any better. I also photogra...

Forest Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

So this is the story all about how my life got twisted upside down at Millie and Matt’s wedding. As Mother Nature would have it the heat wave of 2018 got interrupted by a little thunderstorm. They had planned a forest wedding near Millie’s childhood home in Gloucestershire. For months they had been clearing a spot in the woodland for the ceremony and this gets a BIG thumbs up from me. However, the night before they decided to make a cover for the woodland spot. Just as well because the weather went from being sunny and blue skies to torrential rain. People often ask me what happens if it rains on my wedding day? And I always answer with ‘well, it never rains all day!’ Well on Millie and Matt’s wedding that remained true but I also found out a little about myself. Firstly, I discovered that I love a rainy wedding! I got soaked! I walked around for a good 8 hours of the day with soaking feet and a big smile on my face. What did I love about the rain? Well it completely mixed things up fo...

Dillington House Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer

I was really excited to finally visit Dillington House for wedding photography . A gorgeous venue in Somerset for Alix and Chris’s wedding. It was a new wedding venue for me and one I’d heard a lot about. It was also my first wedding since the ‘you-know-what’ of 2020 so I was pretty excited to get my cameras out.  The day went swimmingly and it was great to get back in to the swing of things and capture fun moments as everyone got ready. The outdoor ceremony location at Dillington House is incredible. With a great vantage spot for some wider images of the house as well as the opportunity to get close. The registrars were really accommodating and great to work with. I loved how upbeat Alix and Chris were. With all the uncertainty of 2020 it was a relief to revert to normality and see everyone enjoy the celebration. Without doubt I really enjoy these smaller weddings. Although guest numbers were down everyone had a blast. With garden games like croquet and cricket there was plenty of...

Kingscote Barn Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer Photography

Living in Bristol I am a regular Kingscote Barn wedding photographer and visit this beautiful wedding venue multiple times a year. Kingscote Barn is a little farm in the Cotswolds not far from Tetbury in Gloucestershire. It is one of my favourite wedding venues in the Cotswolds and and you’ll find a few of my images on the official Kingscote Barn website. I love the entrance to Kingscote Barn and the fields that surround it. Often they grow corn which looks incredible in the summer and Autumn. The views are spectacular and I never tire of taking a few shots through the day as the light changes the landscape. I am also a big fan of the two ceremony spots. Inside the barn the light is great with large glass doors on either side. But the outdoor ceremony option is equally as beautiful and the entrance through the garden is pretty special. The gardens just outside the barn are a great place for everyone to enjoy drinks and cocktails… they also have a spot dedicated to garden games whi...

Nomad Hotel Wedding Photography - Albert Palmer Photography

It was truly an honour to be Sophie and Jess’s Nomad Hotel wedding photographer. I’d met Sophie a few times before. Firstly as a bridesmaid at this Dorset wedding (many years ago) and her brother’s wedding at St Giles House. I’d also met her again at this wedding in Surrey so as I’m sure you can imagine I was stoked that she booked me too! I don’t tell many people this but I tend not to do very many weddings in London . There’s no question they are always a lot of fun but generally, the logistics with equipment and travel/parking is a shocker! But, from time to time some pretty special weddings come up and I couldn’t say no. It was great to work with Richard from Aurora Wedding Films again and make new friends with makeup artist Tania and hairstylist Philippe who was so helpful throughout the day. The Nomad hotel was absolutely beautiful and we took a bit of time before the wedding to get a few pictures before the ceremony started.  Some hotels lend themselves to photos bette...

STEPH & JOE | WEDDING | PRISTON MILL, BRISTOL

So this is the rather amazing story of Steph and Joe’s wedding at Priston Mill told through photographs. It was such an emotional and joyous day and I’m so thankful I got to share it with them. It was a pleasure to share in the pre-wedding nerves with Steph whilst she was getting ready. I also got to witness the expression on her father’s face when he saw her in wedding dress for the first time. I then caught up with Joe and his best man (sorry I’m quite bad with names!) at St. Mary’s church in Henbury, Bristol. Then when Steph arrived fashionably a few minutes late I photographed her little smile as she walked down the aisle. It was a very emotional ceremony as Steph’s father co-led the ceremony. As Joe said in his speech, that doesn’t happen very often and my trusty assistant even commented that he felt himself welling at one point! Celebrations ensued after the ceremony and a few posed formal photographs. We were incredibly lucky with the weather to have such a beautiful day in ...

Humanist Wedding in Bristol UK - Albert Palmer Photography

It was great to do another Humanist wedding in Bristol and visit a new venue in No.4 in Clifton Village . Julia and Baz kept things pretty low key with close friends and family but it was an awesome celebration to capture. With little portrait sessions in a few of my favourite spots in Bristol as well as two little ceremonies and two big chances for confetti! They also had a first look by the Clifton Suspension Bridge which was pretty special. Capturing the first look whether it’s at the cermeony or somewhere more private is always fun. Next they headed in to Bristol for the legal duties at Bristol registry office. As a Bristol wedding photographer I’m fairly used to the local registry office and we took a few photos in the centre before resuming couple photos around the fairer backdrop of Clifton. We then headed to No.4 for their humanist ceremony with Tim Leyshon who did an amazing job. I always enjoy a humanist ceremony. Sure, the legal paperwork needs to be completed elsewher...

MAY & GENTRY | PEGGY PORSCHEN LONDON | ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

So here is part 2 of May and Gentry’s engagement shoot. You’ve probably seen their Paris engagement shoot (if you haven’t, do head over for a gander!) This time we met in London for a more casual shoot and I was happy to guide them around my favourite London photo locations. We started the engagement shoot at Peggy Porschen for tea and cake. It was a great place to start and grab a sugar fix before heading off and exploring the rest of London. It was actually my first time at Peggy Porschen and it’s such a colourful place I think I’ll be returning in the future! It makes a great backdrop. We Headed to St Paul’s Cathedral, a London University and of course the South Bank for a few photographs by the iconic Big Ben. We finished off at Tower Bridge for a few night time engagement shots which was a first for me. The weather was pretty cloudy, but as always London provided a colourful, vibrant backdrop to the shoot. Not just the shops but the autumnal trees, lights and people! Half wa...

Best Family photography Bristol UK - Albert Palmer Photography

My family photography style is just like my style for weddings – natural, fun and colourful. Being a dad myself I know how quickly little ones grow up and so family photos are priceless. I’ve had several family shoots myself and they mean the world to me. My photos are printed out large and hung on the walls. It’s the facial facial expressions and the unique characteristics that make them them. So I’ve found the best way to take photos is to let the little ones roam free outside where they can explore and have fun. Whether it’s splashing in muddy puddles, kicking a ball or riding bikes the more fun they have the better. No fake smiles or unnatural poses, I promise.  I photograph families far and wide but living in Bristol we have plenty of great locations. The number one spot is Ashton Court. With woods, hills, horizons, deer, gardens and a colourful mansion house gardens there is PLENTY of variety. Westonbirt arboretum is also popular, especially in autumn. Amazing pathways, logs ...

BEST ENGAGEMENT SHOOT IN PARIS - ALBERT PALMER PHOTOGRAPHY

my spoils from May and Gentry’s engagement shoot in Paris. I used to live in this fabulous city and it was great to be back in the ‘hood.’ I love travelling for destination weddings and engagement shoots and have been eagerly awaiting the day where I got to go back to Paris. It’s actually a little dream of mine, as I lived in the city for 2 years. It is a very special place for me and I felt pretty nostalgic on more than a few occasions. Having a rough idea in my mind as to where were might go was pretty handy. There are so many incredible opportunities  in Paris for engagement shoots that we were really spoilt for choice. May and Gentry pulled out all the stops with some amazing outfits that it was impossible not to be inspired by. They get married in a few months (yay!) back in their home of Malaysia. But it was a huge honour to photograph them in Paris. As well as wondering all around the streets and tubes I also got to walk (literally) down memory lane. Here are a few of ...

Elvetham Hotel wedding photography

Mel and Dan’s wedding at the Elvetham Hotel made my year way more enjoyable. Booked in January I photographed their wedding on a sunny day in September. They got married in the little church of St Thomas More before travelling to the Elvetham Hotel for the reception. Their friends and family bombarded them with confetti when they arrived and it was such a nice afternoon. My first time visiting the Elvetham Hotel. A beautiful venue in Hampshire with lovely gardens where guests enjoyed drinks and plenty of spots for couple photos. If that wasn’t enough we had some great light at sunset and the staff were lovely. One of my favourite memories from the day was the family owned MG which was used as the wedding car. Since photographing weddings I’ve developed a love of MG cars and I now keep an eye on auto trader just in case one pops up in my budget (unlikely!) Mel’s father drove her to the church and then Dan drove them both to the Elvetham Hotel. One of my favourite wedding photos from the...

Winter Pre Wedding Photography London

I’m pretty lucky and get to do quite a lot of pre wedding shoots. However must of them aren’t in the winter. So here is Cammy and Colin’s winter pre wedding photography London shoot. We kept a few days open so that we could choose the sunniest of days. The weather forecast said sun but we got cloud! Not to worry though, the cloud turned out to look pretty good in the photos and added a level of interest. Due to the absolutely freezing weather in mid January we didn’t want to hang around! There was literally ice covering the lake we shot next so it’s a good thing Cammy and Colin were up for doing anything for a good photo! You wouldn’t know it but neither of them had done such a shoot before. They were utter pros! It’s not easy, especially in London and especially in the winter to be a model. Cammy and Colin let me choose a few of the photoshoot locations in London and so I took them to some quiet spots. Having a bit of knowledge about what would work and what wouldn’t in advance...

Best Pre Wedding locations London

As I do quite a few pre wedding shoots in London I often get asked about the perfect locations. Well, to start with I’m going to talk a little about the timing. Last time I googled London has a population of just over 8 MILLION people. That’s a lot. Not to mention the tourists which flood the streets in the summer and autumn… So timing plays a part on pre wedding shoots. With sunrise and sunset being the best times – or the quietest times with the best light. I tend to schedule London pre wedding shoots for week days, because as you might imagine the weekends are chaotic. With that in mind here are my top 10 locations for London pre wedding shoots. St Paul’s Cathedral It’s pretty rare that I come to London and don’t stop my St Pauls Cathedral. It’s an iconic building in London (with an amazing history.) Whilst security is pretty tight there are some top spots on each side of the building. I love the columns, the flagstones and the gardens and it’s a great spot for sunset. Paterno...
